Based in Jaipur, Rajasthan, Alka Artisanals was founded with a vision to build a bridge between traditional Indian textiles and minimalist East Asian tailoring. We intersect the flowing silhouettes of Japanese Kimonos with the intricate textures of traditional South Asian fabrics.
Our design philosophy rejects mass-production. By creating loose, adaptable shapes like our signature reversible jackets and oversized kimonos, we honor the versatility of fabric, ensuring each piece is comfortable, elegant, and timeless.
The Hand of the Artisan
Every stitch on an Alka garment tells a story of patience, heritage, and skill. Working closely with local master artisans in Jaipur, we preserve centuries-old techniques like Kantha quilting, hand-block printing, and custom hand-embroidery.
Our Cross Stitch jackets feature dense Kantha embroidery on vintage carpets and heavy cottons, where geometric patterns are meticulously built line-by-line. This slow, dedicated method of handcrafting ensures that each garment is infused with the energy and artistry of the individual who made it.
Honoring Imperfections
We source antique Kantha quilts, upcycled deadstock sari silks, and discarded heritage fabrics, giving them a second life as modern wearable works of art.
Because we work exclusively with vintage and upcycled textiles, minor variations in weave, faint signs of previous wear, or slight color anomalies are not flaws — they are the thumbprints of history. These elements guarantee that your piece is truly unique, possessing a soul and character that machine-woven fabrics can never replicate.
We commit to a zero-waste cutting philosophy. Small textile scraps are gathered and repurposed into patchwork detailing, linings, and accessories. When you wear Alka, you carry forward a legacy of mindful stewardship and artisanal devotion.
